Your data, under your control

Privacy

EML Contacts is designed to process email archives and project data locally on your Windows computer.

This page explains the desktop application and the public website separately. EML Contacts is published by Borsuk Software Engineering Ltd and is being prepared for its first public release.

Desktop application

Imported archives are processed on your computer. The application’s companion engine runs locally, and project databases hold recovered contact information, source evidence and review records locally.

You choose local destinations for project databases, backups and contact exports. EML Contacts does not require you to upload an archive to a hosted EML Contacts service or sign in to a cloud account to work with a local project.

Backups contain project data and exports contain contact information. Consider who can access the locations where you keep them, including any folders managed by other backup or synchronisation software.

Optional local AI

Where configured, EML Contacts sends extraction input from email text to an Ollama service on the same computer. The production inference connection is restricted to the local computer; cloud AI is not a supported production workflow.

Ollama is separate third-party software. EML Contacts does not install or start it, or automatically download models. You choose whether to configure local inference and manage that software separately.

What is not sent automatically

Email archives
EML Contacts does not itself upload your archives to EML Contacts servers.
Contacts
EML Contacts creates local export files; it does not automatically synchronise your contacts with an external account.
Usage analytics
The application has no analytics or telemetry service sending usage information to EML Contacts.
Support bundles
Bundles are saved locally and are not uploaded automatically. You decide whether to send one.

Sharing diagnostic information

A support bundle contains a diagnostic snapshot and a README. Its allowlisted fields include application and engine versions, database state, aggregate counts, job error codes and the configured model. Contact and email content, project paths, credentials and raw logs are excluded.

Review the files before sending them to anyone. A project backup is different: it contains project data and should be handled accordingly.

How to create and review a support bundle

Separate from the desktop application

This public website

The current static website uses no analytics, tracking pixels, marketing scripts, forms or embedded third-party media. It sets no cookies, runs no browser JavaScript and loads fonts and assets without external services.

Like most web servers, the hosting infrastructure may create ordinary technical request logs. Details of the production hosting and log-retention configuration will be documented before public launch.

These website facts do not describe the behaviour of Windows, your browser, Ollama or other software on your computer.

Choices you control

  • Which archives you import and which projects you retain.
  • Where you create backups and export contact files.
  • Whether to configure optional local Ollama inference.
  • Whether to send a support bundle, and to whom.

Removing a project from the recent-project list does not delete its database. Deleting a file through the filesystem is not a promise of secure erasure.

Other software & questions

Explicit links to external websites or software, where provided, take you to services with their own privacy practices. Those practices are outside EML Contacts’ control.

EML Contacts uses third-party software. The third-party software & source page explains notices, licences and matching source materials. Release-specific public source archives are still being prepared for publication.
